George Lucas revealed to Fox411.com that he's thinking of making two new hourlong live-action Star Wars TV films. "But they won't have members of the Skywalker family as characters," he told the site. "They will be other people of that milieu."
SCI FI Wire | The News Service of the SCI FI Channel | SCIFI.COM
No, no, no! The whole promise of post-Ep III Star Wars was that Lucas wasn't going to be involved anymore. He says this like the problem is we don't like the Skywalker family. Look, even Hayden and Jake would have been . . . tolerable if it wasn't for Jar Jar, the podraces, the midiclorians, the ridiculous plots, etc.
My only hope now is that somebody manages to subvert it and make it camp. Imagine Jar Jar teamed up with Ewoks and Wonder-R2-D2 (he flies! He shoots fire! And just LOOK at that tomato!) and turning in an Inspector Clouseau performance.
Grrr.

So first off, it was pretty much a given that Catan would come out on Xbox Live while my Xbox was hors de combat. Damnit! I hear that it's a faithful and true adaptation. Avast ye my foes! Practice and practice well. According to UPS I'll have a 360 again on Wednesday. Assuming all is well I will lay waste to a field of foes most foul. You will find yourself trading stone for sheep and then blankly surveying the devastation, weeping barren tears and asking yourself where it all went wrong.
While on Catan this Penny Arcade is funny, yes? This podcast, recorded while they were creating this strip is well worth a half-hour of ear-attention. I've endorsed their podcast product or service in the past, and the feed has lain fallow for many moons - but they woke up and had podcasts for the last two strips. Still very funny, still interesting to get a glimpse of the creative process they use, stil highly recommended.

The Blu-ray vs HD DVD format war reaches another milestone, with sales of Blu-ray Discs reaching more than one million sold since the format launched less than a year ago. According to Home Media Research, Blu-ray locked up 70% of high-definition movies sales in the first quarter of 2007 (832,530 to 359,300), and account for seven of the top ten best-selling high-def movies.

The unanswered question in all this is: Has anyone told the president? As recently as last week, a White House spokesperson reiterated Bush's "full confidence" in the troubled bureaucrat, stating that the president believes Wolfowitz "has done a very good job at the World Bank." Maybe compared to the Iraq debacle, but not in the eyes of World Bank staffers, who depicted a leadership in distress even before the current scandal blew up.
The Blog | Robert Scheer: Heck of a Job, Wolfie | The Huffington Post
I was going to post about this "full confidence" quote and tie it up to saying that of course Bush has "full confidence" in Wolfowitz - he's done a "heck of a job" both in Iraq "planning" in finding corruption at the World Bank. ("I is in ur bank, paying my gurlfriendz.") Besides, name *one* instance of Bush changing his opinion on anybody based on facts. He doesn't need facts - he has both a gut AND a higher father!
Sadly, while I was trying to find the news story with the best combination of direct Bush quote and being site-reasonably-likely-to-not-be-denounced-as-partisan I realized I had been beaten to the punch. Dang. (And for the record, no I don't consider Huffington Post a site-reasonably-likely-to-not-be-denounced-as-partisan, but this is the link that directly connects the two concepts, so there you go.)
